Q: If I've never fenced before, can I still join?
A: Yes! We accept all levels of experience.
Q: I am out of shape, will I be able to fence?
A: Of course! Work at your own pace and soon enough
you will be in better shape and have increased your flexibility! Q: How much are dues for the club?
A: Dues are $30 per school year and we also ask that you purchase your own fencing gloves.
The dues are payable at your second practice. The dues are used for the purchase and upkeep of equipment, to help pay for admission to some competitions, and to run club events.
Q: Is fencing a safe sport?
A: Yes. All of our equipment and safety gear are
tested to national standards. While fencing, you wear a steal-wire mask
and two layers of canvas. Plus, we will teach you all the proper safety
precautions.
Q: Who can join?
A: To join our practices, you must be able to get into our sports center, the Kern Center. Current MSOE students, faculty members, and staff members
are automatically able to get into the Kern Center, as is anyone who buys a Kern Center membership. (For link to Kern Center membership fees, click here.) Students of nearby colleges or universities can come to our inter-school practices provided they send an email
to puetzc@MSOE.edu at least two days ahead of time with their name and their school registrar's phone number (for verification of student status).
